T. Brown Group and N&C Phlexicare have partnered together to work on an emergency project in South East London. The project, instigated by the Royal Borough of Greenwich, consists of transforming an existing local authority site into a hospital discharge NHS Step Down Facility.
Typically a sheltered accommodation site, the government run project would ordinarily house around 45 people. However, the initiative to transform the site into a NHS Step Down Facility could proceed with the help of T. Brown Group, who were able to refurbish a number of the toileting and showering facilities within a rapid 48-hour turnaround. N&C Phlexicare products were supplied from stock and consisted of 80 replacement toilet seats, 25 replacement showerheads, hoses and more.
Product availability coupled with the speed of supply and fit meant that the NHS were able to quickly use the premises to house patients from local hospitals, therefore freeing up beds in order for them to deal with more critical COVID-19 cases.
Also known as an ‘Extra Care Housing Facility’, the initiative is intended for patients who are ready to be discharged from hospital but who are not yet ready to return to their home or an independent state.
